Mr. and Mrs. George II Nix, of Ponca City, Okla., will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 24 in the fellowship hall of First Lutheran Church in Ponca City.
Lois Deffner and George Nix were married Nov. 26, 1942, at First Lutheran Church in Ponca City, by the Rev. Paul Barth.
Mr. Nix served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He attended Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater and received his degree in agricultural education while his wife worked for Southwestern Bell. They moved to Sedalia, where George was involved in agricultural sales and management and Lois worked in the personnel department of Town and Country Shoes. After retirement, George began a second career as a federal crop adjuster and Lois joined the staff of the Sedalia School District. The couple lived in Sedalia for more than 40 years. In 2000, they moved to Ponca City and George continued working as a crop adjuster until 2010.
They have two children, Dan Nix, of Grain Valley, and the late George Nix III; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
