Kids get art in their heart during camp

Posted: Friday, July 20, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 11:52 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

Drew Bedwell, left, and Bode Eisenmenger, right, paint on a prepared canvas containing a template depicting the icon of the Lion of St. Mark against a field of gold as instructor R. L. Russell, right, moves around the table helping the students and telling them about the animal symbols depicting the Four Evangelists. The activity was part of the two-day 4th annual Christian Art Camp at Calvary Episcopal Church. The 30 kids in the camp were divided into four age groups and, in addition to the painting, spent Friday creating faith journals, bookmarks, stepping stones, silhouettes, tie-dye shirts, and placemats. On Saturday the kids will make wire and paper sculptures, gratitude journals and close with a scavenger hunt and camp songs.
