Long-neglected Theater Park gets makeover courtesy of Scouts, other volunteers

Posted: Friday, July 6, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 12:04 pm, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

A fresh coat of paint on benches and the underside of the Sedalia Sunrise Optimist pavilion, courtesy of local Boy and Girl Scouts, was barely dry on Thursday as public officials, volunteers and Sedalia Senior Center representatives turned out to debut the refurbished amenities in Theater Park.

Located to the west of the senior center, the pavilion and surrounding brick sidewalks and gardens had fallen into disrepair when last summer, Tami Hesseltine, former county services director for the Sedalia Senior Center, attended a meeting of the Show Me Master Gardeners Club to see if the group would be interested in helping with a much-needed facelift for the site.
