Legion baseball: Travelers allow 17 free passes, toss 13 wild pitches in 17-6 loss to Oak Grove in twin-bill opener

Posted: Wednesday, June 6, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 12:15 pm, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

By the time the Sedalia Post 642 Travelers finally got an errorless inning from its defense and a 1-2-3 frame by its pitching staff on Wednesday, they trailed Oak Grove 9-0 in the fourth frame.

From a simple catch to a routine throw to a player failing to run on a pop-up with two outs, it was just that kind of night for Mark Carey’s crew, who struggled with fundamentals in the opener of a doubleheader at Liberty Park Stadium-Dey Field.
