Suspect arrested in sexual assault on Katy Trail

Posted: Friday, June 15, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 11:52 am, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

A Sedalia man has been charged with forcible rape after allegedly attacking a woman at knife point Thursday afternoon on the Katy Trail.

Police officers received a report at 4:43 p.m. that a woman had been raped in the 2300 block of Clinton Road on the trail. Based on the woman’s description of her attacker, officers suspected Ronald W. Greer Jr., 43. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Greer is a registered sex offender; in 1989 he was convicted of attempted rape and first degree sexual abuse after attacking an 18-year-old woman in Sedalia. Sedalia Police Department Chief John DeGonia said Greer already had a state warrant out for his arrest for a parole violation and officers were actively seeking him before Thursday’s incident.
