Sedalia School District 200's Title I preschool to double in size

Posted: Friday, April 20, 2012 12:00 am | Updated: 12:03 pm, Wed Sep 5, 2012.

Sedalia School District 200 will double the number of students in its Title I preschool program — from 40 to 80 — starting with the 2012-13 school year.

Grace Kendrick, principal of the Pettis County Early Childhood Co-op, has wanted to expand the program for years, according to Superintendent Harriet Wolfe and Assistant Superintendent Nancy Scott. Wolfe said the more rigorous educational targets for kindergartners moving into first grade under the Common Core Standards initiative prompted the move to expand the preschool program.
