Joe is going to Washington.

Sedalian Joe Zaremba is planning to attend President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

Zaremba said he’s nabbed one of 198 tickets allotted to Congressman Ike Skelton. He requested the tickets Nov. 13.

“You have to show up in D.C. and pick them up in person,” Zaremba, 38, said.

He was preparing for the trip by reviewing the rules for attending the inauguration and getting a map and seating information from Skelton’s office.

Zaremba said he was first drawn to attending the inauguration when “they were hyping it all up on the cable news channels.”

“He is the first African-American president, and something historical like that would draw your attention to see in person,” he said. “There’s nothing like the feeling of being there in person.”

Zaremba likened the excitement of Obama’s inauguration to “trying to score tickets to the front row for the greatest concert ever or the Super Bowl” — although he said he would have tried to attend regardless of who won the presidential election.

While in D.C., Zaremba said he plans to sight see and visit monuments. He plans to take his oldest brother, who lives near D.C., to the inauguration.
