Police find woman from motorcycle crash

July 31, 2007

Police have found a woman who walked away from a fatal motorcycle crash.

Shelia Colbert, 48, of Sedalia, was the passenger on the motorcycle driven by William Shockley, 59, said Patrolman Mike DeHaven. Shockley died July 24 from injuries in the July 23 accident at North Engineer Avenue and Boonville Road.

Colbert told officers that all she remembers is Shockley saying, “Oh God, hold on,” before the crash, DeHaven said. Then, she woke up in a yard and was unsure where she was.

DeHaven said he thinks Colbert may have been disoriented from a head injury. Shockley and Colbert were both wearing helmets.

Officers are still unsure what caused the crash.
