I am an appalled educator. The Sedalia Democrat wants us to use the paper in our classrooms, but we have several disturbed teachers and parents today who think that the fact that you ran the Playhouse ad in your paper is reprehensible and irresponsible for a family newspaper. None of us want our students, especially our elementary students, to be subjected to such ads.
I have a question for The Sedalia Democrat. Here you are a hometown newspaper that says you have family values. Your ads in the classifieds encourage people young and old to read your paper. It makes them — quote —better writers and speakers. Then tell your readers why you have a quarter-page color ad for a porn playhouse directly opposite an ad telling kids to send their letters to Santa.
It seems that the Kool-Aid drinking brain trust of MoDot has struck again. First, they destroyed the intersection of 50 and 65 in Sedalia with a temporary fix to a problem that needs a bypass. And now they want to destroy La Monte. Their proposed solution is nothing short of stupid. I believe they should consider placing crossing signs with flashing warnings when entering traffic there as was done in Lynn Creek which has two similar crossings on 54 Highway. Or make a new crossing where 127 comes to 50 with a connecting road on the south side ... and add a traffic signal. Either way would be cheaper than their idea and more convenient for the people. Oops. I forgot, the people don’t count. Thank you.
Thank you for the voting records of our elected officials. It helps us to be informed.
I send a huge thank you to those who have called visited or written to The Sedalia Democrat to complain about the pornography printed in the paper this week. We cannot allow the delivery of pornography to our schools, libraries and homes. I quote from a previous Sedliner, shame on you, Sedalia Democrat, for promoting porn.
