Why are you seeking a City Council seat?
I seek re-election because so many great opportunities are on the horizon for the city of Sedalia. I have been a part of this movement forward.
What qualities do you have to contribute to the City Council?
Common sense and dedication to serving my community.
What makes you the best candidate for this position?
Experience and community involvement. In the past 10 years I have served in the following: Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Works Committee chairwoman, Finance and Administration Committee chairwoman, Community Transportation Partnership, Community Health Care Initiative, Whiteman Base Community Council. I am a deacon at First Christian Church and have served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity and Sedalia Public Library.
I believe my service has kept me in touch with the community. Each year I attend the Missouri Municipal League Convention where seminars are given on a wide variety of issues that we face as councilman. These have been very beneficial in my job.
What are the most important issues before the city government at the moment, and how would you address those?
1. Continue downtown renovation; formation of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district and complete critical construction.
2. Continue moving the Community Center project forward; study financing and develop plan.
If elected, what would you like to see the council accomplish in the next two years?
Focus on neighborhood clean up.
