Blue Springs edged Smith-Cotton 2-1 in a nonconference baseball game at Blue Springs on Wednesday.
Smith-Cotton scored its one run in the fourth inning off a Derik Kinde solo home run. An inning-ending double play in the sixth stranded three base runners and canceled the chance of additional runs.
Dillon Mays was the losing pitcher for the Tigers. He walked four and struck out three.
Adam Archibeque, Alex Lang and Drew Hutinger each had a single and Mays hit a double.
The Tigers’ next action is an away game on Monday against rival Warrensburg.
Crest Ridge 8, St. Paul Lutheran 5
St. Paul Lutheran left nine runners on base while Crest Ridge scored runs in the third and fourth innings to erase a 2-0 deficit in handing the Saints an 8-5 loss on Tuesday.
Josh Brown went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in and Natsuki Kitamura scored three runs to lead the Saints’ offense.
Northwest 8. Santa Fe 2
Northwest’s Mariah Wiskur struck out six in seven innings to bring the Mustangs to a perfect 9-0.
At the plate Wiskur went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Meredith Norfleet went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a two stolen bases. Lorelei Schlomer went 2-for-2.
Smith-Cotton 1, Harrisonville 0
Alicia Dunkin scored the winning goal for the Tigers against conference opponent Harrisonville.
The win brings the Tigers’ record to 11-2 and 5-0 in conference.
