A Sedalia man was injured after a high-speed motorcycle chase on Interstate 70 Wednesday night in Lafayette County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

Robert E. Schmidt, 32, was taken by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence. The hospital had no information on Schmidt, a spokeswoman said.

Schmidt was driving his motorcycle about 150 mph when he crashed, the patrol said.

The accident occurred at 9:35 p.m. in the westbound lane of I-70, about 0.7 miles east of Missouri 13, the patrol reported.

A Highway patrolman spotted Schmidt standing on the seat of his motorcycle and tried to stop him, according to the patrol. Schmidt attempted to elude the officer, and crashed about 1.5 miles farther. He was thrown from the motorcycle.
