Sedalia police are waiting for lab test results before deciding whether to seek charges against a Syracuse man involved in a fatal crash here May 7.

Glen R. Jenkins, Jr., 71, of Yuma, Ariz., died Friday at University Hospital in Columbia.

Joshua Howell, a Sedalia Police Department officer who investigated the crash, said he believes alcohol was a factor for both drivers involved.

“We are just waiting on the lab results before we decide to file charges,” Howell said.

Robert Smith, Pettis County coroner, said Jenkins had been in the intensive care unit at University Hospital since the accident happened. He suffered broken ribs and a punctured left lung, according to the police.

Jenkins was southbound on South Ohio Avenue about 11 p.m., turning left onto West Broadway Boulevard, when his car collided with one driven by Arthur J. Thompson, 39, of Syracuse. Thompson, who was westbound, ran a red light according to Sedalia Police Department reports.

The passengers in Jenkins’ car, John W. Bryant, 36, of 28739 McGee Road, and Blake D. Price, 23, of 2909 S. Ohio Ave., did not require immedaite medical attention.
