Sacred Heart places fifth at Camdenton

The state-ranked Sacred Heart Gremlins won fifth place Saturday in the Camdenton girls soccer tournament.



The Class 1 No. 6 Gremlins (7-4) beat Boonville 3-1 in the fifth-place match.



Maeghan Johnson put the Gremlins ahead 1-0 in the 37th minute.



Farren Bankovich scored 2 minutes into the second half, and Erica Stone scored in the 57th minute to give the Gremlins a 3-0 lead.



Im happy with how we played all weekend, Sacred Heart coach Carlos McField said. Two-and-1 is a good result for the weekend, but its all about improving and getting better for district.



After losing 4-1 to Mexico on Friday night, the Gremlins beat Branson 1-0 in a consolation game Saturday morning.



Johannah Hohne scored her teams only goal, in the 57th minute, and goalkeeper Laura McMullin needed to make only two saves to earn the shutout.
