Clinton man held in armed robbery

August 10, 2009

Henry County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Clinton man Sunday for allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint the night before.

Brandon G. Easter, 28, was taken into custody on a 24-hour investigative hold as authorities pursue charges of robbery and armed criminal action.

Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom said the office received a report Saturday from a man who claimed Easter led him at gunpoint to a remote location west of Clinton. The victim stated that he was ordered to surrender all personal effects, including his clothing, while Easter threatened him with the weapon.

The victim walked to the nearest house and called for help after the suspect drove off with the items. During interviews with deputies, the victim identified Easter as the man who robbed him.

On Sunday, Sgt. Jeremy Bowman arrested Easter and seized his vehicle.

Prosecuting Attorney Debbie Snoke applied for a search warrant for the vehicle, which Judge Wayne P. Strothmann issued late Sunday evening. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is holding the vehicle as evidence.
