A Centerview teenager is being charged with his father’s murder following an investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Jacob Hayes Feldman, 17, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and burglary after confessing to shooting his father in the head while he slept, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Reports indicate Johnson County sheriff’s deputies received a 911 call Jan. 25 on a report of an unresponsive man at 307 N. Main St. in Centerview. Deputies found Walter Hayes Feldman dead in his bed of an apparent gun shot wound. After an autopsy, the Johnson County medical examiner ruled Walter Hayes Feldman’s death a homicide.
“On Februay 28 we conducted an interview with Jacob Hayes Feldman,” said Chief Deputy Gary Klote. “During the interview, he told us he and a juvenile suspect went to Walter Hayes Feldman’s home on January 22, where they found him asleep in his bed. Jacob said he shot three bullets from a .22-caliber rifle into Walter’s head and removed several items from the residence.”
Klote would not comment on Feldman’s possible motive for shooting his father or the role the juvenile suspect played in the death.
Feldman is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $750,000 bond. The juvenile suspect also remains in custody.
