The Central Missouri Agriculture Club whose purpose is to support, promote, and recruit agriculture and youth in central Missouri announced they awarded 10 scholarships totaling $21,000 to area students. All scholarship proceeds are funded from the two major fundraisers which are the annual agriculture banquet and pie auction and the Central Missouri Ag Expo. The club also provides financial assistance to the local FFA chapters, 4-H council and 4-H livestock shows, sponsors a farm family of the year award, and sponsors a farm tour for youth. Since the club was formed in 2010, the club has awarded more than $58,000 in scholarships and financial assistance to the area 4-H and FFA chapters.
The Central Missouri Agriculture Club provides scholarships in conjunction with Agriculture Future of America (AFA) to graduating high school seniors who plan on pursuing a four-year degree in an agriculture related field of study. This scholarship supports college tuition and fees in the amount of $3,200 and includes sponsorship to the AFA Leaders Conference (a $1,000 value) during the fall of your freshman year of college. The AFA Leaders Conference focuses on personal and professional development and is held annually in Kansas City. The club also provides scholarships to students who plan to pursue an agriculture related field of study at either a community college or four year college.
Those receiving the AFA scholarship were Zach McCoy, of La Monte; Sarah Young, of Windsor; Morgann Gregory and Shaina Chamberlin, both of Hughesville; and Colby Dohrman, of Sweet Springs.
Those receiving the Central Missouri Agriculture Club scholarship were Tanner Young, of Windsor; Carl Jason Arnett and Travis Warner, both of La Monte; Nathaneal Hutcheson, of Sedalia; and Lauren Fuehring, of Sweet Springs.
