At this time of the year, most everyone reflects on the past year and what has made us thankful. It is no different with the Sedalia Public Library Board and staff.
Even though it has been rough at times, the library has much to be thankful for this season. The library is thankful that our beautiful, historic building can be saved so it will continue to stand majestically as a community reminder that the pursuit of knowledge at our library is of the utmost importance and value. We are also thankful that the State Fair Community College Board allowed us to use the McLaughlin Bros. Furniture Building as a temporary location.
We are thankful for those who stepped up to help us as we were forced to vacate the building: Jackson Relocation Services; LAMM Technical Resources Staff; Ditzfeld Transfer; State Fair Moving and Storage; Mid-Continent Public Library; and many volunteers. The library would be remiss if Sedalia Democrat reporter Emily Jarrett, photographer Sydney Brink and the paperís columnists were not mentioned and praised for the accurate reporting and photos taken of the building issues as each unfolded and how several of you shared your feelings about what the Sedalia Public Library has meant to you personally over the years.
As we enter into this season of thanksgiving, Sedalia Public Library would like to also thank the Sedalia community for its continued support as we plan for the future.
Director, Sedalia Public Library
