MSHP: Crash injuries increase over holiday

Two traffic fatalities and 91 injuries occurred during this year’s Christmas holiday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

From 6 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, patrol officers investigated 239 traffic crashes and arrested 130 people for driving while intoxicated. Those numbers are up from last year’s totals of 213 traffic crashes with 67 injuries and 59 driving while intoxicated arrests.

Both fatalities occurred in the Springfield area.
