Lyceum Theatre schedules auditions

Auditions for the Lyceum Theatre’s 2013 season will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Lyceum Theatre, 114 High St. in Arrow Rock.

Appointments for auditions at other times can be made by emailing a picture and resume to Auditioners should specify if there is a time of day that is best and if there are specific roles for which they would like to be considered. They should include in the subject line of the email “ARROW ROCK AUDITION.”

Each person auditioning must prepare 16 bars of two contrasting songs and one brief monologue. An accompanist will be provided. Children younger than 10 may audition with 16 bars of one song and no monologue if they are only interested in ensemble positions. Anyone who is not a singer may perform a monologue only. The Lyceum is seeking equity and non-equity actors. A dance call will take place at the end of the audition day.

The 2013 season includes “The Wizard of Oz” (June 7-16), “Fiddler on the Roof” (June 22-30), “Meet Me in St. Louis” (July 10-21), “The Nerd” (July 27-Aug. 3), Agatha Christie’s “A Murder is Announced” (Aug. 10-17), Hank Williams’ “Lost Highway” (Aug. 24-Sept. 1), “Steel Magnolias” (Sept. 5-17) and “Tuna Does Vegas” (Sept. 21-28).

There are several casting opportunities for young people this season.

In “The Wizard of Oz,” the Lyceum is seeking young  singers, dancers or gymnasts to play munchkins, flying monkeys, jitterbugs and Ozians. 

In “Fiddler on the Roof,” the Lyceum is seeking two actors ages 10-14 to play Tevye’s youngest daughters Shprintze and Bielke. 

In “Meet Me in St. Louis,” the roles of Agnes and Tootie Smith are available. The actresses should appear to be around 12 and 6 years old, respectively.

In “The Nerd,” the Lyceum is seeking an actor age 10-14 to play the unabashed brat, Thor.

Along with the local auditions, the Lyceum will participate in the Midwest Theatre Auditions Feb. 22-24 in St. Louis. Information on these auditions can be found at
