I couldnít do my job without all of you. Community communication is a crucial column concern.
And thatís why I make a real attempt to respond to everything that you send to me. But that has been more difficult over the last couple of years because the number of messages has been steadily increasing. And now itís nearly impossible, because I no longer have access to my busiest inbox.
The email address firstname.lastname@example.org is no more, and I would like to apologize to anyone who has attempted to sent me mail there over the past couple of weeks because I have been and will be unable to access those messages and therefore unable to respond to them.
If you are one of those people, please send me the message at: email@example.com
Thatís the new proper address for column-related e-mail. I have a number of e-mail addresses, like any good net denizen would, but that is one of the only ones that doesnít already have other traffic coming in. Until now, that is.
But thatís not the only way to contact me and any way that works for you, works for me.
Carrier pigeons are accepted at the offices of the Sedalia Democrat during normal business hours only. ďInception-Ē style dream invasion will be available whenever you can successfully determine that Iím asleep but I only deal with telekinetics on the weekends.
Or you could simply drop me a message down at the Democrat. Put it an envelope, or donít put it in an envelope ó it doesnít concern me. Put it on the back of a place mat from your favorite local diner if you must. Whatever you do, just make sure that it is clearly marked as something that is intended for me.
If your message is urgent, do not call for me down at the Democrat ó I donít work out of their office, and I donít have a telephone extension to which you can be transferred. I will get back to you eventually, but not quickly.
And Iím available on a number of different social networking sites, for those of you who are technologically literate. I check each of these accounts daily, even if I donít update them nearly that frequently.
On Twitter Iím @SardonicJerk, if my account hasnít been acquired by hackers who intend to sell it at auction. You can search for Travis McMullen on LinkedIn if you want to professionally profess that Iím a proficient professional. You can also search me out on Facebook if the idea of being Internet friends with some guy from the newspaper sounds appealing.
I also maintain a blog at scottjoplinisdead.wordpress.com. Come and see it sometime, it might even get updated one every couple of years! Or, you know, a couple times a week. Itís definitely one of those.
