Police Taser man in home incident

February 6, 2013

A Sedalia man was Tasered on Tuesday morning after refusing to follow police orders.

According to reports, around 6:30 a.m. Sedalia Police Department officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife at a residence in the 300 block of Scott Joplin Court. The complainant told officers Willie B. Carter, 63, dragged her across the floor by her leg and threatened to stab her with a kitchen knife.

When officers arrived at the home, Carter refused to show his hands and get on the ground. An officer attempted to move Carter to the ground but he resisted, prompting a second officer to draw his Taser and order Carter again to stop resisting. When Carter refused, the Taser was deployed and he was immediately handcuffed.

Carter was booked into the Pettis County Jail on charges of assault and resisting arrest.
