Mid-Missouri Artists to explore new uses for old sheets

May 23, 2013

Mid-Missouri Artists will learn how to recycle old bed sheets by crocheting them into artistic rugs and other useful items at the program at 7 p.m. May 30 at the Warrensburg Community Center.

Admission is free.

Program presenter Pam Comer asks that those attending bring sheets torn into 1-1/2-inch strips lengthwise and a #Q crochet hook. MMA will have a few crochet hooks available.

Also, the MMA Summer Exhibition is now open in the University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art and Design in Warrensburg. The exhibit includes works in a variety of media and a strong selection this year of 3-D works. The Outer Gallery features a photography exhibit by John Hess, “The Weavers of Darwin’s Tapestry.”

Summer gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free.
