Warrensburg Community Band to perform at courthouse

The Warrensburg Community Band, under the direction of Dr. Russell Coleman, will perform their fifth of six summer concerts at 7:30 p.m. Monday on the east steps of the Johnson County Courthouse in Warrensburg.


Admission is free.


The concert will feature four guest conductors from within the personnel of the band — Pat Setser (bass clarinet), currently the associate conductor of the Kansas City Wind Symphony and retired band director and music coordinator from Winnetonka High School and the North Kansas City School District; Stephanie Sekelsky (percussion section), currently director of bands at Warrensburg High School; David Robinson (trumpet), currently worship pastor at Grover Park Baptist Church and recently retired band director from Knob Noster public schools; and Chuck Appleton (trumpet), currently a road representative for Palen Music and retired band director from Warrensburg High School.


The concert will feature a wide variety of music, including “Jolly Robbers,” “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” “Within These Hallowed Halls” (with narration by Dr. Conan Castle), “Blue Goose Rag,” “A Percy Grainger Suite,” “Brass on Broadway,” “Honey Boys on Parade” and “What a Wonderful World.”
