MINK League baseball: Bombers rally in 9th; tied for 1st place in South

July 19, 2013

In a game with major implications on the South Division race in the MINK League, the Sedalia Bombers twice came from behind to beat the Nevada Griffons 9-7 on Thursday in Nevada and are now tied for first place in the division.

The Bombers entered the top of the ninth trailing 7-6 before scoring three runs to take the lead. Zach Lavy singled to drive home Nick DeLorenzo, and Tony Sandifer followed with a single to score Cody Webster and Lavy.

Danny Chambliss worked a one-two-three ninth for the save.

Ryan Yuengel earned the win, pitching three innings in relief and allowing one run on three hits, walking no one and striking out four.

The Griffons jumped into the lead with three runs in the first and two in the second off Bombers starter Jordan Knutson, but Sedalia rallied to take the lead in the fourth.

A pair of errors and a sacrifice fly put the Bombers on the board with a three-run third. Sedalia then took the lead in the fourth with three more runs, capped off by a Webster single to score Randy Medellin.

Nevada tied the game with a run in the sixth and took the lead with a run in the bottom of the eighth.

The teams will meet again at 7 p.m. Saturday in Nevada.
