Brides-to-be will find everything they need for the perfect wedding at the 2014 Bridal and Party Celebration featuring 24 to 30 vendors from noon to 4 p.m. this Sunday in the MEC Building on the Missouri State Fairgrounds.

Coordinator for the event for the last two years, Kenneth Weller, owner of Weller’s Men’s Wear, 3113 W. Broadway Blvd., said local businesses work together to provide the event that has been an annual feature for about 30 years. The cost to attend is only $2 and the proceeds go toward advertising.

Weller said that Nita Bales, owner of Formal Affairs, coordinated the event for years but stepped down last year and asked him to help out.

“She wanted to step away from it for awhile and asked me to take it over,” he said. “I’ve gone to it for many years, and I thought maybe it’s time for me to do some of the work. Because, like I said, there is no money (involved) it’s not a paid position, we just do it for the good of the community and our businesses.”

Not only do brides-to-be benefit from the event but the local businesses do also.

“The benefit is that each store that participates is able to talk to brides-to-be and and get new contacts and new leads,” Weller said.

Among the vendors are caterers, music services, hotels, china distributors, make-up and spa vendors, tux rentals and wedding dress booths, photographers, jewelry stores, plus many more.

Weller said Weller’s Men’s Wear will be giving out brochures and information on weddings and will have a sign-up sheet for a free tux rental.

“I don’t know what each booth is doing, but most of the booths will have a free giveaway,” he said. “That helps get the bride’s name and then we send them information. There will be a lot of giveaways.”

The list of the vendors as of today are: Weller’s Men’s Wear, Bichsel Jewelry, Kyleigh Whitfield Photography, Georgetown Estates Bed and Breakfast, Country Bumpkin Catering, Music for the Masses D.J. Services, Formal Affairs, Kay’s Bridal and Tuxedo, Panera Bread, Ditzfeld and Weaver Charter Services LLC, Puff Productions Mobile D.J. “If you are getting married, come out and you can find about anything you want,” Weller added.
