Knob Noster tennis falls in district final

The Knob Noster tennis team fell to Warrensburg in the Class 1, District 12 final 5-0 on Wednesday in Warrensburg.

Cole Lankford pushed Chris O’Connor in the No. 2 singles match before falling 6-4, 7-5. In the No. 1 singles match, the Panthers’ Kyle Zimmerschied fell to Nick Piontek 6-4, 6-2. Warrensburg’s Nate Fernquist won the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-0 over Jared Yates. In the No. 4 singles match, the Tigers’ Austin Doyle beat John Abernathy. Knob Noster’s Jacob Youngblood fell at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-2 to Jackson Scurlock.

“Warrensburg was a level above what we’ve played against this year, and we raised our level to them,” said Knob Noster coach Scott Maple.

The Panthers will play in the individual district tournament at noon today in Warrensburg.
