Equity Bank has announced the addition of Cheryl Barnson as President of the bank’s easternmost market in Sedalia.
According to a news release, Barnson joined Equity Bank in May and is based in Equity Bank’s Sedalia office at 920 Thompson Blvd. Barnson will be responsible for the bank’s business development efforts in Sedalia and outward through Pettis County, and also will oversee commercial loan development, branch strategy and consumer banking in the area. Barnson also will contribute to regional community banking strategy throughout Equity Bank’s western and central Missouri locations.

Barnson has been a commercial lender as well as an area farmer in western Missouri for more than 20 years. She previously served as senior vice president and commercial loan officer for UMB in Warrensburg, and got her start in banking working as a bank manager as well as in staff positions for Freddie Mac in Los Angeles, Calif. She also has real estate experience and attended Pierce College School of Agriculture in California.
Barnson is a notable member of the community, having served the Missouri Farm Bureau Federation and having participated in a SARE (Sustainable Agricultural Research and Education) grant study with the University of Missouri Extension and she is a member of the steering committee for the annual Women Landowners Agriculture Conference. She also has appeared as a featured speaker in front of various audiences as well as being televised on local KOMU in Columbia, speaking on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
