Bombers out of World Series

The Sedalia Bombers have been eliminated from the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan. with a pair of losses over the weekend.

The Bombers lost 5-3 to the Santa Barbara (Calif.) Foresters on Saturday and fell to the Fairbanks (Alaska) Goldpanners 8-3 Sunday.

In the loss to the Foresters, the Bombers fell behind 5-0 before finally getting on the scoreboard in the ninth with a pair of runs.

Winston Lavendier pitched eight innings and took the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits.

On Sunday against Fairbanks, the Bombers took the lead with a pair of runs in the third before the Goldpanners cut into the lead with a run in the sixth and took the lead with four runs in the seventh.

Trey Hair went 3 for 4 in the game. Jess Cartner, Robert Prieto and Alex Bee all drove in runs.

Dan Chambliss took the loss, pitching six innings and striking out six while allowing five hits.
