Poncy-Townsend wedding
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Tabitha Poncy and Steven Townsend, both of Houstonia, were married at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at First Christian Church in Sedalia.
The bride is the daughter of Rhonda Thornton, of Hughesville, and Joe and Billie Poncy, of Knob Noster. The groom is the son of Marcia Freeman, of Hughesville, and Gary Townsend, of Grain Valley.
The Rev. Matthew Keith conducted the ceremony. Mark Piepenbrink was the organist. Nate Ahern and Bobby Garner were vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Angel Thornton, cousin of the bride, was the maid of honor. Sherry Paxton, Nichole Mahnken, sister of the bride, Jessica Carey, Lacy Boyd and Amber Winfrey were bridesmaids. Savannah Townsend and Claire Weathers, nieces of the groom, and Patience Bentley, niece of the bride, were flower girls. Paige Weathers, niece of the groom, and Clayton Townsend, nephew of the groom, were candlelighters.
Scott Townsend, brother of the groom, was the best man. Mike Weathers, brother-in-law of the groom, Bruce Killion, Joshua Killion, McConnell Kraft and Matthew Kidder were groomsmen. Jackson Weathers, nephew of the groom, was the ring bearer. Josh Elam, brother of the bride, and Glenn Thornton, cousin of the bride, were ushers.
A rehearsal dinner was held by the groom’s parents at El Espolon Restaurant in Sedalia. The reception was at the Elks Lodge.
The bride, a 2006 graduate of Northwest High School, is working toward a degree in dental hygiene at State Fair Community College. She plans to graduate in 2010. She is a waitress at Perkins Family Restaurant.
The groom, a 2004 graduate of Northwest High School, received an associate of science degree in computer aided drafting from SFCC in 2008. He is a CAD logic technician for ProEnergy Services in Sedalia.
The couple honeymooned in Saint Lucia, West Indies. They live in Houstonia.
