40 & 8 gives student nursing scholarship

Asden Swearngin was awarded a $1,000 nursing scholarship by 40 & 8, Voiture 333. Scholarships are based on needs and accomplishment of the individual.

Swearngin recently completed the licensed practical nursing program at State Fair Community College. She will begin her studies in the registered nursing program at the college this fall.

The voiture donated $500 of her scholarship from proceeds for its annual banquet and picnic. Voyageurs Gerri and Willis Arnold, both veterans, donated the other $500.

This year the voiture has awarded a total $2,500 in scholarships to four recipients. Any student in nursing programs at any Missouri accredited college is eligible to apply for a scholarship next year by calling Tony Gallagher at (660) 287-3812.
