Roundup: Northwest volleyball sweeps

Whitney Brown had 18 assists, five aces and 16 service points as Northwest swept La Monte 25--7, 25-13 in Kaysinger Conference volleyball on Tuesday.
Meredith Norfleet led the Mustangs in kills with seven and also had four aces and eight points. Lorelei Schlomer, Shadow Wiskur and Mariah Wiskur had four kills apiece. Mariah Wiskur led in digs with three, while Schlomer had two aces and five points.
Tipton 2, Eugene 1
Tipton rallied from a first-game loss with a pair of close victories in handing Eugene a 19-25, 25-22, 25-23 loss on Tuesday.
Chelsey Hainen had seven kills for the Cardinals, Shelby Knipp recorded five blocks and Shannon Zapf had 10 assists.
Smithton 2, Sweet Springs 0
Stephanie Krause had four kills and three aces for Sweet Springs in its 25-23, 25-14 loss to Smithton on Monday.
Kathleen Tyler led the Greyhounds with six assists and Kim Rennison led the team in digs with three.
SOFTBALL
Warsaw 18, Leeton 0
Kelli Wenberg threw a one-hit shutout and had plenty of support as the Wildcats won a five-inning run-spread decision on Monday.
Megan Palmer went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two driven in for Warsaw. Shawnah Kee was 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Brittany Hensley also had three RBis and Wenberg drove in two.
Wenberg struck out nine batters and walked three as Warsaw improved to 4-2 on the year.
The Warsaw junior varsity also won, 6-2.
Richmond 13, Knob Noster 3
Knob Noster collected 10 hits but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Richmond’s 15-hit attack in a six-inning run-rule game on Tuesday.
Victoria Jackson, Brandi Sahlfeld, Brooke Jackson and Brandy Potter each went 2-for-3 for Knob Noster. Victoria Jackson, Brooke Jackson and Potter scored the Panthers’ runs.
Brooke Jackson took the loss. She went the distance, walking none and striking out two.
SOCCER
Cole Camp 3, Lincoln 2 (shootout)
The Bluebirds won the shootout after the teams played to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday.
Earl Pierce and Brian Eichler scored goals for Lincoln and Travis Smith had an assist.
