Sylvia Thompson residents observe birthdays in April

Helen Whittington, of Sedalia, will observe her 90th birthday on Saturday.
She was born April 4, 1914, in Missouri. She was married to Nolan Eugene Whittington, who died earlier.
She worked at Lamy’s Manufacturing and Inter-State Studio. She was a Gray Lady for 26 years. She taught Sunday school for more than 40 years.
She has two children, Tom Whittington, of Climax Springs, and the late Delores Goodman; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Pittman, of Sedalia, will observe her 80th birthday on Sunday.
She was born April 5, 1929, in Missouri. She was married to Bill Pittman, who died earlier.
She was a secretary for an insurance company. She enjoys traveling, doing embroidery, reading and playing bingo. She is a member of St. Patrick Church.
She has a son, James Pittman, of Florida; and a grandson.
Sidney “Kenneth” Ryan, of Sedalia, will observe his 87th birthday on April 15.
He was born April 15, 1922, in Green Ridge. He is married to Lora Gayl Ryan, who also lives at the center.
He was a farmer and a construction worker. He enjoys fishing, camping and visiting antique shops.
Pearl Viebrock, of Sedalia, will observe her 92nd birthday on April 20.
She was born April 20, 1917, in Florence. She was married to Elroy Viebrock, who died earlier.
She was a housewife. She enjoys playing cards and visiting with others. She is an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She has two daughters, Vicki Esser, of Sedalia, and the late Della Ficken; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Lucille Otten, of Sedalia, will observe her 94th birthday on April 26.
She was born April 26, 1915, in Pettis County. She was married to Clemons Henry Otten, who died earlier.
She was a cook at a nursing home in Versailles for a short time. She also was a housewife. She used to enjoy quilting, taking car rides, visiting and helping others.
She has five children, Judy Dugan, of Sedalia, James Otten, of Tebbetts, Phyllis Merkling, of Oklahoma, Eldon Otten, of Cool, Calif., and the late Herman Otten; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
