Pearl S. Johnson, Sedalia
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Pearl Susan Johnson, 84, of Sedalia, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Four Seasons Living Center.
She was born Oct. 29, 1923, in Clifton, Tenn., a daughter of Hershel and Leby Ray Hickerson. On June 21, 1941, in Arbyrd, she was married to Parker Thompson, who died March 30, 1945. On April 17, 1946, in Arbyrd, she was married to Martin Johnson, who died April 1, 1990.
She was raised and educated in Arbyrd. She lived in St. Louis most of her life. She was a beautician for 40 years and owned two beauty salons in St. Louis and one in Arbyrd. She moved to Sedalia in 1990. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Eckhoff, and her husband, Don, of Smithton, and Linda Ayres and husband, Ron, of Springfield; three sisters, Marie McClarty, of Lilbourn, Shirley Henderson and Sue Mantei, both of St. Charles; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was also predeceased by an infant son; a brother, Hillard Hickerson; and two sisters in childhood.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Salem Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Drew Hill and the Rev. Dr. Eddie Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
