Orville D. Belcher, Warsaw
Orville D. Belcher, 89, of Warsaw, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.
He was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Nevada, Mo., a son of George W. and Effie L. Dyer Belcher. On Aug. 31, 1940, in Lamar, he was married to Pauline J. Massey, who died Oct. 9, 1989.
He lived in Kansas City, where he was employed by Missouri Pacific Freight Line for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater as a ship cook.
In 1972, he moved to Karr’s Park Development. While living in Warsaw, he was a bus driver for the R-10 School District until he turned 70. For a short time, he also worked for the Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Shawnee Masonic Lodge 653 in Warsaw.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Fox, and her husband, Jack, of Warsaw; two brothers, Ralph Belcher, of Kansas, and Bill Belcher, of Carthage; a sister, Ruby Belcher, of Minnesota, and a grandson, Michael Fox, who is serving in the Navy.
He was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral and Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Military rites will follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
