July 27 Sedline

This is a warning, after age 72 it takes lots of time to do nothing.

I am calling to complain about when there’s an accident in Sedalia they put down sand to cover up the oil spills. I understand that they need to do that, because you can’t leave the oil on the roads. But as a motorcycle rider, that loose sand is very dangerous too. If there’s some way they could put down a caution sign or something like that on the streets, because (on) motorcycles that loose sand is very hazardous to us.

Sedalia has such beautiful red buds and dogwoods in the spring, why don’t we have a festival like that with a street fair type atmosphere, crafts, food, entertainment, games? It would bring a lot of people in (to) really enjoy the flowers and trees with have.

I live in Sedalia and I’m certainly looking forward to the downtown improvement mentioned in today’s (Wednesday’s) Democrat. However, what would really improve the lives of the Sedalia population, and this fact is shared by many, is a highway bypass. We are all so frustrated with the heavy traffic in the city of Sedalia. In fact, a number of friends from out of town have told us that they are reluctant to come to Sedalia due to the heavy traffic. When, oh, when can we expect a bypass? It certainly would make driving in Sedalia, living in Sedalia, more pleasant.

Is there some big deal that everyone is supposed to wear an American flag lapel pin and if you don’t, you’re not an American? What nonsense. I don’t see all the newscasters and every politician wearing them. I think that everyone should lighten up a little bit.

Doesn’t it just figure, a $2 million cut in federal funding for the program that pays for vaccinations? Our own health care has to do drastic cuts for American citizens, so our money can go to be big brother to the world. We need to start taking care of our own people and our own country first.

I have two issues. One, whenever it’s 70 degrees outside, you walk into a business and they have the air conditioning sitting on 62. But if it was 62 degrees outside, they’d have the heat turned up to 80 degrees. There needs to be a happy medium.
Number two, smoking in front of businesses. Even Arkansas has a law where you can not smoke within 25 feet of any door going into a business. It’s really sad when you want to go into a business here in Sedalia and you have people smoking right outside and half of them being the employees of that business. That makes me want to take my money elsewhere.
