Cynthia L. Callis, 72, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Sedalia, a daughter of Edwin Leo and Ruby Lou Bremer Mynatt. On Oct. 30, 1953, in Fayette, she married James B. Callis, who survives of the home.

She graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1952 and attended William Woods College in Fulton, where she majored in art. She moved back to Sedalia in 1963 when her husband began working for CW Flower Company, which they later purchased and operated.

She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church for nearly 50 years. She was a nurturing mother and grandmother, talented artist, strong Christian, wonderful friend and a tireless volunteer.

Also surviving are two sons, J. Mark Callis, and his wife, Maureen, and Cliff Callis, and his wife, Charlyn, all of Sedalia; a son-in-law, David Gaspard, of Sedalia; two brothers, Hank Monsees, of Prairie Village, Kan., and Tony Monsees, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Rachel Callis, Tyler Callis, Devin Gaspard, Graham Gaspard, Logan Gaspard and Mason Gaspard; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Gaspard and Jackson Horn.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Camye Noel Callis Gaspard.

Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nancy Carle and the Rev. Dr. Dennis Haines officiating. Her grandchildren will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Maureen Callis, Charlyn Callis, Amanda Gaspard and Brittney Gaspard. Private burial will be in High Point. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Condolences may be left online at www.heckartfuneralhome.com.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Camye Callis Gaspard memorial fund, in care of Bothwell Regional Health Center Foundation, or the Broadway Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
