Cynthia L. Callis, Sedalia
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Cynthia L. Callis, 72, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She
was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Sedalia, a daughter of Edwin Leo and Ruby
Lou Bremer Mynatt. On Oct. 30, 1953, in Fayette, she married James B.
Callis, who survives of the home.
She graduated from Smith-Cotton
High School in 1952 and attended William Woods College in Fulton, where
she majored in art. She moved back to Sedalia in 1963 when her husband
began working for CW Flower Company, which they later purchased and
operated.
She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church for
nearly 50 years. She was a nurturing mother and grandmother, talented
artist, strong Christian, wonderful friend and a tireless volunteer.
Also
surviving are two sons, J. Mark Callis, and his wife, Maureen, and
Cliff Callis, and his wife, Charlyn, all of Sedalia; a son-in-law,
David Gaspard, of Sedalia; two brothers, Hank Monsees, of Prairie
Village, Kan., and Tony Monsees, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Rachel
Callis, Tyler Callis, Devin Gaspard, Graham Gaspard, Logan Gaspard and
Mason Gaspard; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Gaspard and Jackson
Horn.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Camye Noel Callis Gaspard.
Funeral
services will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Nancy Carle and the Rev. Dr. Dennis Haines officiating. Her
grandchildren will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Maureen
Callis, Charlyn Callis, Amanda Gaspard and Brittney Gaspard. Private
burial will be in High Point. The family will receive friends from 4
p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
