Chapman anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Delano Sr. Chapman, of Stover, will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday.

Lucy Marie Dodson and Franklin Delano Chapman Sr. were married Jan. 30, 1952, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Granite City, Ill. They had a double wedding with Jack and Shirley Grabner Jones. Each couple served as attendants for the other.

Mr. Chapman retired in 1989 from the U.S. Postal Service, where he had served as the regional postmaster in Sedalia. Mrs. Chapman retired a couple years later from the medical records department at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Retirement didn’t slow down this couple as they single handily built their new home and started farming. Even today, they are still active raising sheep, horses, chickens, chopping wood and laughing with each other.

They have four children, Linda M. Westgate, of Ames, Iowa, Franklin D. Chapman Jr., of Sedalia, Garry Von Chapman, of Lebanon, Ohio, and Jeffry Scott Chapman; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
