Charles "Bud" Stevens, Boonville
Charles “Bud” Stevens, 86, of Boonville, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville.
He was born Jan. 4, 1922, in Benton County, a son of Roy C. and Marie Stark Stevens. On April 6, 1946, he was married to Christine Outen, who survives of the home.
He was a member of Santa Fe Trail Baptist Church in Boonville. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 266 in Pilot Grove and of the Missouri and Cooper County Cattlemen Associations. He lived in Lenexa, Kan. He served on the Greenwood School Board and was a trustee at Greenwood Baptist Church. He was a commission man for Maxwell & Furnish at the Kansas City Stockyards. He then worked for the Farmer’s Livestock Auction in Boonville for 20 years.
Surviving are two sons, Chuck Stevens, and his wife, Jane, of Lenexa, Kan., and Ed Stevens, and his wife, Janet, of Boonville; a daughter, Patti Byrne, of Shawnee, Kan.; three sisters, Louise Roy, of Sikeston, Helen Taylor and Mary Hirst, both of Boonville; a brother, Roy Stevens, of Boonville; and three grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Bill Stevens.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Santa Fe Trail Baptist Church in Boonville, with the Rev. Tom Brack officiating. Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
