Man faces child sex charges

A Cole Camp man has been charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation following allegations that he sexually abused a child under 12 years old, according to a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Tommy J. Estes, 45, of Cole Camp, is being held on the charges at Morgan County Adult Detention Center with a $100,000 cash-only bond.

According to reports, on Dec. 27, Morgan County detectives received information from the Department of Family Services that a child had been sexually abused by a school bus driver in the Stover area while on the Morgan County R-I school bus. Officers allege the incident took place between Aug. 1-31 while the child was the last student on the bus. Estes was brought in for questioning Jan. 3, arrested and held on formal charges.

Morgan County R-I has been assisting the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
