USS Missouri deck plate on display

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri State Seal and commemorative deck plate from the USS Missouri are on display at the Missouri State Museum Veterans Gallery in the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.

The seal was affixed on the USS Missouri while it was a commissioned vessel in the U.S. fleet. The USS Missouri was the site of Japan’s surrender to the Allied Forces on Sept. 2, 1945, ending World War II. The deck plate marked the location of this event.

This exhibit will be on display through June 2009.
