Fischer-Clune wedding

Dr. Mary Katharine Fischer and Matthew Patrick Clune, both of Kansas City, were married at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 27, 2008, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kansas City.

The bride is the daughter of John and Carol Fischer, of Laurie. The groom is the son of Kevin and Mary Kay Clune, of Kansas City.

The Rev. Bernard Barry, uncle of the groom, conducted the ceremony. Maureen Henderson was the organist and Phil Holmes played the trumpet. Gina Smrt was a vocalist.

Annie Fischer, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Jennifer Rinella and Elizabeth Schroeder, sisters of the bride, Eileen Forbes, Meghan Clune and Kathleen Clune, sisters of the groom, Chrissy Clune, sister-in-law of the groom, and Julie Rome were bridesmaids. Josie and Anne Rinella, nieces of the bride, were flower girls.

Connor Clune, brother of the groom, was the best man. Brenden Forbes, Mike Rinella and Greg Schroeder, brothers-in-law of the groom, Matt Cindrich, cousin of the groom, Scott Foote, Brian Dunn and Andrew Beck were groomsmen. Jack Rinella and Will Schroeder, nephews of the bride, were ring bearers.

A rehearsal dinner was held by the groom’s parents Dec. 26 at Carmen’s Cafe in Kansas City. The reception was at the Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kan.

The bride, a 1994 graduate of Versailles High School, received a bachelor of arts degree in industrial relations from Rockhurst University in Kansas City in 1998. She received a master of arts degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2000. She received a doctorate in communication studies from the University of Kansas this year. She is an assistant professor at Rockhurst University in Kansas City.

The groom, a 1994 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park, Kan., received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Rockhurst University in 1998. He received his juris doctorate from Saint Louis University in 2002. He is an attorney for Spradley & Riesmeyer, PC, in Kansas City.

The couple honeymooned in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They live in Kansas City.
