Betty Allen, Fort Collins, Colo.
Betty Allen, 73, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Village in Fort Collins.
She was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Fayette, a daughter of Leslie H. and Mildred Miller Thurman. On Jan. 2, 1951, in Lawton, Okla., she was married to William H. Allen, who died in 2004.
She shared a birthday with her older sister, Mildred, though they were nine years apart. She met her husband at a roller skating rink in Boonville. She was a homemaker most of her life, but was also a dispatcher for the Leavenworth, Kan., Police Department.
She loved crafts, especially painting and decorating. She and her husband would buy houses, redecorate them, sell them, move and then do it all over again. She loved bowling, roller skating, gardening and traveling in recreation vehicles. She liked roses. She was active at First Christian Churches. She was a deaconess and group leader at First Christian Church in Sedalia. She moved to Fort Collins in 2003.
Surviving are a son, William L. Allen, of Sedalia; a daughter, Judith L. Allen, of Fort Collins; a sister, Mildred Hufstedler, of New Bloomfield; and a grandson, Seth Strickland, of Breckenridge, Colo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.Condolences may be left online at www.resthavencolorado.com.
