Ethylene Frerking, Concordia

Ethylene Frerking, 78, of rural Concordia, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at her home.

She was born Oct. 21, 1929, in rural Lafayette County, a daughter of Virgil and Zelma Hess Kanoy. On June 6, 1948, she was married to Ralph L. Frerking, who died Aug. 27, 2006.

She lived in the rural Concordia area all her life. She was a 1948 graduate of Concordia High School. She worked at various businesses in the Concordia area and was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Hill United Methodist Church in rural Concordia.

Surviving are five children, Gary Frerking, and his wife, Paulette, Gail Brandt, Nancy Roepe, and her husband, Lester, Sharon McMurphy, and her husband, Jim, all of Concordia, and Debbie Camp, of Higginsville; a brother, Jimmy Kanoy, of Excelsior Springs; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two daughters in infancy, Peggy Ann and Penny Lyn; two sisters, Muriel Beard and Shirley Brackman; a brother, Sam Kanoy; a son-in-law, John Camp; and a grandson, John McMurphy.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Hill United Methodist Church in rural Concordia, with Chaplain Carl Muehler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Zion Hill Cemetery or the Concordia Ambulance District.
