Sexual predators at jail a mistake

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Question to our elected county and city officials: Have we become so money hungry that the safety of the residents of Sedalia and Pettis County carries little to no weight with you? I sure hope not.

Let me express my concerns here and now. Bringing more of that element (sexual predators) into our community will have a devastating psychological effect on every aspect of community growth. Do we want the reputaion of being garbage collectors? And yes, I mean the garbage of human society here in Pettis County. Again, I sure hope not.

I have four fine grandchildren — one girl and three boys — living here and do not want even the slightest chance of an increase in sexual predators in their lives. It is my concern that this could become a reality. What about the families and friends of these low-lifes who will eventually show up here? Will they see the Sedalia area as a good place to return after their sentence is completed? Again, I sure hope not.

What I see is an increase in the welfare roll and a drop in community development. Not a pretty picture, but one that does not have to become a reality.
