Johnny R. Cox, Lincoln
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Johnny R. Cox, 57, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, near Warrensburg.
He was born Dec. 28, 1950, in Paola, Kan., a son of Robert and Virginia Staton Cox. On June 14, 1969, in Harrison, Ark., he was married to Sharon Davis. On Feb. 14, 1999, he was married to Carmen Clariady, who survives in Warsaw.
He grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1968. He enlisted in the Army on April 28, 1969, in Kansas City. He served in the Vietnam War and Army Reserves until April 1975. He lived in Jackson County. He lived in Livingston, La., from 1977 to 1997, before moving to Benton County. He was an avid outdoorsman.
Also surviving are two children, Teresa Conn, and her husband, Rodney, and “Little” John Cox, and his wife Jessica, all of Grain Valley; a stepdaughter, Brandi Griffin, of Livingston; his father and stepmother, Robert and Estelle Cox, of Fort Scott, Kan.; four brothers, Danny, Rob, Rick and Russ; two sisters, Laura and Virginia; his companion, Vicki Grey, of Lincoln; and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Cox; a brother, Roger Cox; and two sisters, Linda Cox and Deanna Roush.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Coffel Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kan., with Bill Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Trading Post Cemetery in Trading Post, Kan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family.
