Sedline for Dec. 24-25

“We are so proud of our Kansas City Chiefs. Now maybe all of our merchants will be able sell their Kansas City Chiefs merchandise. Merry Christmas!”

“I read ... a typical American family will have spent $4,155 to fuel their vehicle this year. Yet President Obama has vetoed the Keystone Pipeline that would bring oil to the United States from Canada. Selling out the people’s needs for his own self-interest is what this president is all about.”

“You write in the paper, ‘I’m in favor of Social Security.’ Of course you are, and I’m sure you like Medicare, too, because they are programs from the government that affect you directly. But if something doesn’t benefit you, you scream ‘socialism’ and accuse President Obama of being a socialist. What is wrong with American tax money coming back to the American citizens for our benefit, whether it is Social Security or Medicare or health insurance for our own people?”

“In regard to the Sedline message ... about the window tinting: I would think law enforcement people would have more important things to do than stopping people for window tinting.”

“(The Rev.) Rodney Brown’s message in the (weekend) paper (’Jesus is waiting for us to make room for him’) was very inspirational for this time of year. Thank you, Rodney.”

“While those people are waiting for Panera Bread to get built ... there is a wonderful place to go and eat at Fifth and Ohio. It is called Fitter’s and it is wonderful. ... And Dukes & Boots also has a wonderful lunch. Let’s support our local people here in Sedalia.”

“Whoever bought (Adco) must have a heart of steel.”

“I just passed the Versailles court house in Morgan County and they have a nativity scene. I wish we could have the same thing.”

“It’s Tuesday morning, Dec. 20, I was just in the Open Door Thrift Store, and a couple of ladies came in, one had on a red beret and the other one was taking pictures. They handed me a red envelope and it had $50 in it. I am so thankful to the good Santas who are doing this.”

“Charter has let their customers down. We have lost 16 channels and the TV Guide channel; we can’t tell what is coming on. I hope our rates are reduced.”

“I was wondering what the Missouri State Fair was going to do with the walnut logs that came from the walnut trees that it cut down. Who is going to get the money after they are sold, and what purpose is it going toward?”

“In reference to the people who want to complain about Travis McMullen’s appearance: The reason he does it is because of his own uniqueness ... Look back at your own pictures and see what you looked like at 22 years old. One thing I can’t stand about Sedalia is the way people judge and the way people talk behind people’s backs. Do you know what the word ‘phony’ means? ... Ask your pastor or your priest about judging people.”

“I would like to give a thumb’s up to Robert Ferguson, the postmaster at the Sedalia Post Office. He has done a wonderful job keeping the lobby clear.”

“I hope our City Council here in Sedalia takes a little closer look at the fire department’s proposal to pay their retirement program for them. Years ago, firemen, railroad, teachers all opted out of Social Security because they wanted a larger pension, and they paid their own pensions.”

“I think it is a very good idea to have random drug testing for city employees. I hope it will include the City Council and mayor.”

“What’s happened to all the Christmas movies this year? Very few are being shown.”

“I think I have seen it all. This morning I saw an attorney commercial on television, that if you have been burned by a cup of Ramen noodles, you should call them.”
