Doyle-Poland engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doyle, of Overland Park, Kan., announce the engagement of their daughter, Karen Spicer Doyle, to Valor Nathan Poland, of Seattle. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Larry Poland, of Redlands, Calif.

The future bride is the granddaughter of Frank Spicer, of Warrensburg, and the late Katye Spicer and Alfred and Lois Doyle.

The future bride, a 2001 graduate of Blue Valley North High School, graduated magna cum laude and received a bachelor of science degree in speech, language and hearing sciences from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 2005. She was a member of the honor’s college.

She received a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Arizona in 2007. She recently completed her clinical fellowship in speech language pathology at a private children’s clinic in Anchorage, Alaska.

The future groom, a 2001 graduate of Arrowhead Christian Academy, attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill., until 2003. He received a bachelor of science degree in business and economics from Seattle Pacific University in 2005.

He is a computer software consultant for Service-Now.

A Nov. 1 wedding is planned at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Plaza in Kansas City.
