“Men, all they have to do is put on a pair of pants and a shirt and they are dressed up. Women, it takes two hours. So that is how come I look the way I do.”

“Only four hours of TV listings. Some people like to watch TV up to 10 to 12 hours a day and would like to know what is available to watch.”

“I don’t know why all these stores in Sedalia waste their money putting up disabled parking spaces. ... I watch the handicap parking places, 70 percent of the people who park there have no businesses being there whatsoever. ... If I was a judge, and they had a ticket, they would have wear a brace to hold one leg up and walk for a week with crutches for a punishment. ... Maybe then they would have a little respect for what the sign means.”

“In regard to the lady who called and said she would rather leave a dog in the street than take it to safety. Well, what if you were left on the street and someone said, ‘Oh it might cost me $10, I’ll just leave her?’ ... The $10 is to support the animal shelter — they need the money.”

“I would like to thank the Centennial Park manager who shared extra ice with the fans at the baseball game last week when it was really hot. We really appreciated it.”

“It’s Monday afternoon, and if you had a garage sale over the weekend or within the last three or four months, please go take your signs down off of all the utility poles, staked in peoples yards. There are some intersections that just look trashy. Keep Sedalia beautiful; take them down.”

“We really enjoyed all the Fourth of July activities in Sedalia. Plus the lovely, patriotic decorations on Thompson Boulevard. God Bless America.”

“It is hard for me to understand how people who say they don’t have money to feed their children lunch have money to buy beer and fireworks. Seems to me the problem is lack of priorities instead of lack of money.”

“I’m curious as to why one of the city’s public pools was closed on a holiday. Centennial Pool was closed on the Fourth of July. That does not make any sense at all.”

“Independence Day is over. People have said we are lucky to have our independence. They are proud to be Americans. This is a great country and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. But its sad when I think how we got here. This country was taken away from the Indians. This land was their land.”

“Yeah, I love America. Yeah, I love jorts (jean shorts). Yeah, I love barbecuing. Yeah, I love America. What else do you want from me?”

“I had a dream last night, a beautiful dream. I dreamed that Sedalia had a golf course built by ProEnergy. Yes, ProEnergy built a beautiful golf course for the citizens of Sedalia, a public course. ... The fairways were beautiful and it had a real nice pro shop. We were the envy of all the little towns around us. Then I woke up and realized, all we have is Sedalia Country Club, and I went back to bed.”
