Francis "Gene" Fowler, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Francis E. “Gene” Fowler, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Sedalia, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
He was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Morgantown, W. Va., a son of Earl and Paulette Seigel Fowler.
He was a 1942 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He was a World War II veteran. He served with the 8th Army Air Force in England. He received the presidential unit citation. He was an Eagle Scout.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Pennington, and her husband, Doug, of Martelle, Iowa, and Ruby McCullough, and her husband, John, of Las Vegas; two sisters, Bernadette Kelso, of Haysville, Kan., and Toni Jones, of Sedalia; and three grandsons, Tyrone Pennington, of Norfolk, Va., and James and Seth Pennington, of Martelle.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Bob Fowler and Paul Fowler; and a sister, Clara Herrick.
There were no funeral services or visitation. Burial was in St. Isadore’s Cemetery in Springville, Iowa.
Arrangements were under the direction of Papich-Kuba Funeral Service in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Boy Scout Troop 57 in Springville.
